A Carlisle charity is hoping to set a new world record this evening.
About 27,000 pom poms are being laid out in the city's Lanes Shopping Centre to celebrate Eden Valley Hospice's 25th anniversary.
The current record stands at around 7,000 pom poms.
Ally Duncan, lottery manager at Eden Valley Hospice explained: "Because it's our 25th anniversary, we wanted to do something special.
"We had a discussion and so we decided to make pom poms and try to beat the world record."
The attempt is being filmed, while Grant Smith, from Armstrong Watson and Alison Welton, from David Allen, are acting as witnesses.
Ally added: "Hopefully the record will be confirmed by the end of the year."
