PEOPLE are being warned of the possibility of flooding in part of the Lake District.
The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater.
The agency said: "Following scattered showers overnight lake levels continue to remain high. Further light showers are forecast today but we expect lake levels will begin to fall."
The flood alert covers areas close to the lake including part of Keswick.
It is the only alert to have been issued but there was localised flooding in other areas following heaving downpours earlier today.
The wet weather prompted a number of warnings from Cumbria Police who tweeted: "We advise not to drive through standing water as just six inches of water will reach the bottom of most cars and can cause loss of control."
The force also urged motorists to drive with their headlights on as rain can cause reduced visibility on the roads and to check their tyre tread.
