Trains running between Cumbria and Scotland are now operating normally following serious delays last night.
Customers were facing delays of two hours after a problem affecting the Motherwell signalling centre caused problems for trains between Glasgow Central/Edinburgh and Carlisle.
Disruption reportedly continued until the end of service, the early hours of this morning.
CrossCountry, Scotrail, Transpennine Express and Virgin Trains customers were all affected.
