A dinner lady at a west Cumbrian village school has retired after 30 years.
Children at Broughton Moor Primary School said farewell to Val Stewart, 63, on her last day at work on Friday.
Val, who lives opposite the school, said: "I'll miss the children, I didn't come to school for the job, but for them.
"Now I'll have more time to spend with my two grandchildren and my family.
"The best memories of these years are the children's smiles and laughter.
"I'll miss them coming to give me a hug."
The school hosted a leaving party with tea and cakes, to mark Val's three decades working there.
Children sang songs and both members of the community and former pupils came along to the party to say goodbye to Val.
Paul Brotherhood, headteacher, said: "The response from the village has been fantastic, this is the perfect example of why villages are so brilliant for these kind of things.
"I'm gutted that Val is leaving, she is the go-to person if I'm not sure about something.
"She isn't just a dinner lady, she also used to come on school trips with us.
"The children absolutely love her."
