Silloth became a hotbed of elegant technology today as thousands braved the rain to attend the annual Vintage Steam Rally.
The event included numerous beautifully restored steam engines, as well as entertainers, stalls, and classic cars.
The exhibitors included a man who shares the name of the Star Trek hero James Kirk, though this Mr Kirk was travelling not in the Starship Enterprise but a humble 1960 Mark l Mini Super delux, beautifully restored.
"It was the first car I owned," said James, 60, from Dumfries, who was at the event with his wife Mary. "When I was training as a mechanic I served my time working on them. You get fanatical about them. I've been in the motor trade all my life."
