Nearly 3,000 people had a muddy marvellous time at Gelt Gladiator.

The obstacle race in and around Gelt Woods near Brampton at the weekend attracted its biggest attendance yet in its third year.

Options ranged from a 10-mile epic on Saturday morning to a 3km event on Sunday afternoon. There were also 10km and 6km routes.

About 15 parents and children from Aspatria Hornets Rugby League Club took part in the 3km.

Organisers say Gelt Gladiator is now the biggest children’s obstacle race in the country, with 1,200 youngsters taking part in the 6km and 3km events.

On Saturday afternoon a female spectator was airlifted to the Cumberland Infirmary by the Great North Air Ambulance Service after collapsing.
