Fire broke out at a house in Penrith, causing significant damage.
Firefighters were called to the property, in Friargate, at 9.30pm yesterday.
The blaze started in the kitchen.
The room, measuring eight metres square, was badly damaged.
Firefighters wearing breathing equipment used hose reel jets to bring the blaze under control.
A thermal imaging camera was then used to make sure there were no hotspots that could reignite.
A high pressure fan was used to ventilate the property.
