Shoppers went mad for KFC as the opening of the chain's first restaurant and drive-through in Workington caused a lengthy queue of traffic.
People were so eager to sample the menu that cars were queuing from the new restaurant at Lakes Road and disrupting traffic at the roundabout near Matalan.
The company had initially announced it would open today at 10am, but shoppers found the branch open on Monday and word quickly spread that management had decided to open a day in advance.
KFC first submitted proposals in 2011, but withdrew them the following year.
And in 2015, fresh plans were revealed for a site near the A595 at Lillyhall, then last year the application was lodged for the latest development.
This is the latest global franchise to open a restaurant in the town after Dominoes opened a branch in the Washington Square development this summer.
