A man has appeared in court after stealing hundreds of pounds worth of stationery from a town centre shop.

Nathan John Wilson, 26, of Milburn Street, Workington, stole pens and other stationery worth £388.54 from the town's WHSmith store on February 22.

He appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court yesterday (March 13) and admitted the offence.

He also admitted a separate charge of failing to surrender to custody on March 9.

Wilson was given a four-week curfew from 7pm to 7am and told to pay £85 Crown Prosecution Service costs and an £85 surcharge.
