THOUSANDS of people turned out to see disco legends Nile Rodgers and CHIC dance their way through their greatest hits.

Music fans young and old packed out Lytham Festival for the busiest night so far to enjoy a journey through five decades of disco and pop anthems.

Starting their set with ‘Everybody dance’ the crowd absorbed Nile and the band’s infectious vibe and were unable to avoid singing and dancing along.

As well as performing timeless hits such as ‘Good times’, ‘Le Freak’, ‘He’s the greatest dancers’ and ‘I want your love’ they also performed modern day classics such as Nile’s collaboration with Daft Punk ‘Get lucky’.

With even the highest expectations of a great night, the disco legends did not fail to disappoint.

Nile Rodgers and CHIC were supported by Bananarama and Soul ll Soul. The show was opened by the Soul II Soul best known for their massive hits ‘Back to life’ and ‘Keep on Movin’.

The band fronted by Caron Wheeler warmed up the appreciative crowd. Next up we’re 80’s pop trio Bananarama.

As well as ‘Love in the first degree’, ‘Venus’ and ‘Cruel Summer’ the threesome also performed ‘Robert De Niro’s Waiting’ much to the crowds’ enjoyment.

Lytham Festival was able to give music fans a trip back in time. Getting tickets for next is certainly a must. Every year the festival grows in popularity and following.

Lytham Festival runs from Wednesday to Sunday. To close the event tonight international quartet Il Divo will headline.

They will be joined on stage with special guest Olivier Award-winning West End star, singer and actress Martine McCutcheon and the Heart of England Orchestra.
