ECM, based at Carlisle Airport, is the UK’s largest privately-owned car carrier with 700 staff and a fleet of 500 transporters moving 1.3m new vehicles each year to 3,000 dealers.
It received the award at General Motors’ 24th annual Supplier of the Year Awards in Detroit, USA.
General Motors, which owns Vauxhall, recognised suppliers from 17 countries that have consistently exceeded expectations, created outstanding value or brought innovations to the business.
Winners were chosen by a global team of purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and logistics executives based on performance criteria in purchasing, customer care and after sales, and logistics.
This is the fourth time that ECM has won.
ECM chairman Ray MacDowall said: “Being selected from 20,000 suppliers for one of GM’s global supplier awards is a great achievement and a rewarding tribute to our employees who have earned an enviable reputation as being the best of the best.
“What makes this award special is that it is rarely awarded to an over-land car carrier and this is the fourth time in seven years ECM has won.”
