The former Ivinsons garage in Brampton could become a car showroom again.

Used car dealer Belle Vue Motors has applied for planning consent to trade from the derelict site at the corner of Elmfield and Carlisle Road.

Belle Vue was set up in 2010 by Carlisle engineering workmates Mark Crosbie and Shaun Richardson, selling low-budget cars.

Since then they have worked their way up into the affordable quality car market and say they are ready to branch out with their own site.

Mr Crosbie said: “We want to make the site welcoming to everyone. We’d put in flower beds and hanging baskets and the office would be a log cabin. We would keep the noise to a minimum too. All our cars would be worked on away from the site and then driven to Brampton.

“There will be no lorries or pick up vehicles or deliveries to the site. It’s a residential area and we’re very aware of that.

“In recent years it’s been used for fly tipping, the walls are crumbling. It’s unsightly.”

The Ivinson family had run the garage and petrol station there for 25 years and there had been a garage on the site for 80 years before that. The buildings were subsequently demolished.

In their planning application, Mr Crosbie, 34, and Mr Richardson, 44, say they want to “transform this derelict wasteland into a place where you can come, any budget, any age, and be given a top professional service”.
