The most expensive place in the UK outside London to rent a two-bed property is Esher in Surrey at almost £2,000 a month - compared to just £350 in Carlisle.
A two-bed property in Esher would set you back almost £1,913 a month, with the price attributed to factors like transport links and being close to good schools, according to Rightmove.
In Carlisle, the property to let at £350 a month, from local agent H&H King, is in Granville Street close to the Cumberland Infirmary and McVitie's factory.
Demand for rental property is at a record high across the country, with a 73 per cent increase in email inquiries sent from home-hunters to letting agents in the past year.
