As it’s important to treat yourself to a pampering every now and then, we thought that this week we would take a look at some of the best spa breaks in Cumbria.

Here are just a few in the area that you can go to for a massage, swim, or even a simple manicure.

1FACE TO FACE BEAUTY SPA

Face to Face on Vulcan’s Lane in Workington started in 1996 as a single treatment room.

Today, it offers a range of treatments including, manicures, pedicures, facial treatments and massages.

On Google, the spa has received positive reviews.

One by Linda Montgomery said that a visit to Face to Face was “always something to look forward to”.

2THE FALLS SPA

Situated at the southern end of Derwentwater, The Falls Spa also offers a range of body and facial treatments.

One of it’s most impressive features is it’s outdoor hydrotherapy pool that looks out on to Derwentwater and the impressive views that the Lake District has to offer.

On Tripadvisor, one visitor commented that they “couldn’t recommend The Falls Spa enough” and that “from start to finish the whole day was fantastic”.

3THE SPA AT UNDERSCAR

The Spa at Underscar is situated just outside of Applethwaite, between Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater.

As well as offering the perfect setting to unwind and relax, the spa also has a number of spa packages to take advantage of, including spa days, spa breaks, celebrations and special offers.

On Goggle reviews, Graham Whittaker said he and his wife attended the deluxe package.

He said they had a “fabulous day” and that they used the pool and gym “followed by a lovely massage”.

4ARMATHWAITE HALL HOTEL & SPA

The Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa in the Lake District was awarded a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice award.

As well as it’s stunning location, the hotel also offers a number of activities and things to do - of which treatment at the spa is just one.

Among the facilities at the spa is a 16-metre infinity edge swimming pool, which is 12 metres deep and overlooks the hotel’s gardens.

There is also a ‘wallow pool’, a hot tub and a tranquility terrace - an indoor covered terrace with windows opening out onto the outer terrace and rockery and overlooking the spa gardens.

Christina G wrote on Tripadvisor that she visited the hotel and spa “regularly” and that “it is like coming home”.

5RICKERBY RETREAT

This spa just outside Rickerby Park in Carlisle is a family owned business.

The swimming pool has undergone a complete transformation and terraces have also been installed. Both terraces - the rooftop terrace and garden terrace - are south-facing, offering beautiful views when the sun is out.

The spa terrace, leading out from the pool room also has a chill out lounging area complete with heaters and blankets.

One visitor, Amanda Robson, said on Google reviews that the terrace was “gorgeous” and that her and her friends “can’t wait” to visit again.
