A CLASS of bright sparks from Netherton Infant School have been to test their skills at a traditional British game.

Year 2 pupils travelled down the road to Maryport Bowling Club where Keith and his friends helped the children learn new skills on the green.

Headteacher Mrs Millington said: “The children were invited to go to Maryport Bowling Club to give them a chance to have a go at something new and something they were not familiar with.

“This was also to help promote the club as well as they are trying to get new people into the club to try out the game.

"The children had such a great time. They enjoyed trying something new and learning about a new sport."

The budding bowlers had plenty of fun with guidance from their elders with much-needed snacks and juice after the activity was over.

Mrs Millington said: “They all had a game of bowling with some of the more experienced players giving them tips and hints and on how to play. Everyone loved it.”

In the children’s own words they said it was “awesome” and they are looking forward to going back to play again with their new bowling friends.

Mrs Millington added: “Thanks for having us Maryport Bowling Club – we really enjoyed it.”
