Owner/chef: Grahame and Annie Vallance

History: A Redfern-built pub from 1929 that retains some of its historical features.
Recently refurbished, the public bar is football/sporting themed.
The bar is traditional in decor with wooden floors, plentiful supporters’ scarves adorn the ceiling from all four home nations, along with memorabilia from Grahame’s team Hearts and also his connection with “The Swansea Jacks”.
The lounge is styled as an old coaching inn, warm and comfortable.
Our kitchen is rather small so the size of menu is limited. A new feature to the pub is the rockery garden with footballing garden gnomes which has proved to be a very popular talking point.
We provide locals and visitors with food and drink all served with a smile and a bit of good Scottish craic.
We have two real ales always on tap, along with Fosters, Smiths, Kronenbourg, Amstel, Strongbow, Youngers Scotch and Guinness.
On the gantry there is an ever-increasing selection of malt whiskies, about 20 at present, along with premium spirits including Edinburgh Gin, all at 35ml measures.
Our lounge comfortably seats 40 people for dinner.
The well lit, fully-carpeted lounge is available for small parties. Quizzes are run every Thursday.

Style of food: Traditional pub grub, using local produce, to name a few: Bell’s fishmongers, Stevie Wilson butchers, Pioneer and fresh vegetables from Houghton Garden.
We also offer a few cheeky dishes for those who want to go off kilter from the very popular fish and chips, steak pie and gammon steak.

Menu sample: Starters include soup of the day with crusty bread and butter (£3.75); blaggis (black pudding and haggis) pakora with homemade chilli sauce (£4.75); breaded king prawns with garlic citrus mayonnaise (£5.95); Cumberland sausage bites on chive mash with honey mustard (£4.95).
Mains feature “juicy lucy” – a handmade 100 per cent beef pattie stuffed with applewood cheese, grilled and served on a focaccia bun with salad, mayonnaise, crispy bacon and triple cooked chips (£9.75); “all new chicken kebab” made from chicken breast pieces marinaded in yoghurt, lime, chilli, garlic, coriander and our own special spice mix served on a skewer with salad, rice, naan bread, chilli sauce and garlic mayonnaise (£9.50) or with chips (£10.50); “the whole hog” is a platter of slow cooked pork belly, grilled smoked pork loin, a black pudding fritter and chipolata sausage on chive mash with cider gravy (£11.95).
Puddings include apple tart with ice cream or custard (£4.25); liqueur and ice cream, choose your liqueur to pour over ice cream (£4.95); sticky toffee pudding (£4.25); cheese selection (£4.75).

In their own words: We will continue to provide our regulars and visitors with quality food at a reasonable price, hearty portions along with great craic and a warm welcome.
