Workington Town's eagerly-awaited League Cup quarter-final with Gloucestershire All Golds has now been switched to Derwent Park.

The two sides were due to meet at the Prince of Wales Stadium for the cup clash.

But after talks this week, they have reached an agreement, with the All Golds giving up home advantage to travel to face Town on Saturday, April 1, kick-off 2.30pm.

Workington chairman Garry Mounsey said: "We’ve been in dialogue with Gloucester over the last week and, after careful consideration about the organisation of the match, we came to the conclusion that reversing the fixture made logistical and financial sense.

"We look forward to welcoming the club to Derwent Park for what should be a great quarter-final."

The All Golds have been struggling for crowds with their third round Challenge Cup clash with fellow League One opponents North Wales Crusaders only attracting a gate of 87.

This is thought to be one of the reasons for the switch with Town getting 660 through the turnstiles last weekend for their league game with Newcastle Thunder and 934 for the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy clash with neighbours Whitehaven.

It means the two sides will meet on successive weekends at Derwent Park, in the league on March 26 and then the following Saturday in the cup competition.

The All Golds have also switched their fourth round Challenge Cup tie with Doncaster to the Keepmoat Stadium.

Town have a long trip to Oxford to contend with this weekend and the squad will travel down on Saturday ahead of the match the following day to make sure they are rested to try and pick up their first league win.

The players will use facilities at Aylesbury rugby union to train on the Saturday before heading to Oxford's Tilsley Park base on Sunday.
