WORKINGTON Town have been dealt a fresh blow ahead of Sunday's clash with Bradford with hooker Karl Olstrum facing the possibility of a lengthy ban.

Town could be forced to start life in League One without Olstrum who is accused of physically assaulting a referee.

The 24-year-old has been charged with a Grade F offence which carries a suspension of at least eight games.

He will appear in front of a Rugby Football League independent disciplinary tribunal next Tuesday.

The offence is alleged to have taken place in the 27th minute of Town's 62-0 defeat at Sheffield Eagles on Sunday which saw them relegated to the third tier.

Olstrom is accused of running into referee Jon Roberts and pushing him over.

He missed his club's opening two matches of the Super 8's after being sent off for striking Dave Allen in the derby against Whitehaven in July.

Olstrom pleaded guilty to punching his opponent, but contested the category C grading. He was also fined £100.

Meanwhile Phil Veivers is urging his players to put on a good show for the club's final home game of the season.

He said: "It's important that the boys go out there and complete the season.

"Again we've got to go out with a depleted squad, but the players are warriors and will go out there and do their job.

"Bradford will be playing with a lot of thrill. I expect them to throw the ball about and chasing their tails, but we'll see what it brings."

Veivers added that he has just 15 fit players to choose from this weekend.

However, he has named all 16 of the players who travelled to Sheffield last weekend in his matchday squad and has added Brett Carter, Jarrod Sammut and Brett Phillips to his list.

Veivers added: "If we could win our final two games it would mean that we could finish a poor season on a high.

"If the home crowd can get behind us, we can go out there and put on a show.

"They get behind and are very vocal and we normally have more than 600 people there."

Kick off at the Zebra Claims Stadium is at 3pm.
