Veivers thought he had secured a player from Hull to help provide cover for his depleted back line.
But the frustrated Town coach was told the player wanted to stay where he was.
“I can maybe get someone in next week but not this week,” said Veivers.
“I thought we had someone from Hull but he wants to stay where he is at and everyone else has their own injury problems.”
Veivers has been scouring the Super League clubs to try and bring some more firepower in but he has had no success.
He added: “I have been in contact with St Helens, Wigan, Warrington, Salford, Wakefield and Hull so I have been pretty active.
“But all the feedback I have got is that they are suffering from injuries so they are reluctant to let anyone go this week. There is a possibility of some bodies coming back in the next couple of weeks so maybe then it will be different.”
Tee Ritson has been assessed this week and is unlikely to play any part in the Championship clash with Swinton as he is still sore after leaving the field against Leigh through injury.
But there was some good news surrounding Marc Shackley, who had hyper-extended his elbow in the same game.
