Workington Town may have to take to the field against Bradford Bulls with just 14 men as their injury crisis deepens.

Last weekend's defeat at the hands of Sheffield Eagles not only condemned Town to relegation but they also picked up more injuries.

Workington had ran out against Sheffield with just 16 men but coach Phil Veivers says there are now doubts over two more ahead of the visit of the Bulls on Sunday, kick-off 3pm.

"We are probably going to be even weaker," he admitted. "We picked up a couple more knocks in the Sheffield game.

"Marc Shackley has chipped a bone in his finger so he is doubtful and there is a serious doubt over Matt Gee with his rib cartilage problem.

"I had at least six players who shouldn't have been out on the field last weekend and now there are two more doubts."

Veivers said he had never known a season like it for injuries and admitted it was going to be tough getting through the final two weeks of the season.

"It has been ridiculous and it is something that has gone on right from the start of the season," he added.

"We only had 25 bodies and really we needed 30. It has just been crazy.

"There are a list of players who have been out long-term like Jarrad Stack, Brett Carter, Chris Murphy, now both Phillips brothers, Jarrod Sammut and Perry Whiteley.

"I had to go with 16 last week and it all stems back to Leigh on Easter Monday when I only had 14 players."

But Veivers said the squad was determined to see the season out and then begin the rebuilding process.

He added: "The lads all understand that we have to fulfil our fixtures but it is like trying to row up a creek with a fork.

"I have never been in a situation when I can't get a full 17 out on the field.

"Over the year, I don't think we have had less than five players out injured at any one time.

"But I still have a job to do, to get these players across the finish line and then we can put this season to bed.

"Then we will have to look at a complete rebuild for next season."
