In-form Workington Reds star Joe McGee says they will be going all out to beat Hednesford Town this afternoon for the fans.

He admitted the faithful travelling support last Saturday were treated to a shocker and says the side want to put it right at Borough Park today, kick-off 3pm.

And he said Tuesday night's League Cup win over Ramsbottom, on penalties, had given them a boost.

"We are coming back home and this is a big game for us," said McGee, who scored the winning penalty in Tuesday night's shootout.

"It is massive really. I think we need to put on a performance for the fans that travelled down to Stourbridge last Saturday and hopefully put things right.

"I think Tuesday gave some of the lads who don't normally start, 90 minutes or at least some game time.

"And it was nice to get last weekend out of our systems, even with a win on penalties."

But McGee warned Hednesford will provide a tough test after coming down from National League North at the end of last season.

They lost their manager Liam McDonald and midfielder George Carline to National League side Solihull Moors recently.

But they now have a new boss in place in Paul Casey and he has made new additions to the squad.

"I think they were a bit unlucky to lose their last manager and they struggled a little bit after that but they are a good team," added McGee.

"They only came down from the league above at the end of last year, so it will be a really good test for us.

"We definitely need to be on our A game."

McGee played the full 90 minutes on Tuesday and says he is returning to his previous form, following injury.

"It was good to get the full game in after being out injured for a while," he said.

"I still don't feel completely match fit but I'm definitely feeling better."
