Hitman Nathan Waterston will make his long-awaited return to the Workington Reds squad for the trip to Halesowen tomorrow.

Waterston has not featured for Reds since a substitute appearance on the opening day of the season – when tomorrow's opposition came to Borough Park – but he travelled to Ashton on Tuesday night and will be on the bench tomorrow afternoon.

Joint manager Lee Andrews said: "He'll be in the squad but it's too soon for him to start.

"He gives us something we haven't got with all the other strikers because he's got the pace which we all know about but he's also a physical presence.

"He's a big lad who's eager and will run himself into the ground for the cause.

"Competition for places is always healthy and it's quite good that we've got a full squad to choose from more or less.

"There will be people disappointed when the team is picked but that's a better problem to have than having to scrape around to put a team out.

"The lads that start know there are people chomping at the bit to play."

Although Halesowen are bottom of the league, Andrews is wary of underestimating them after being impressed when the two sides last met.

"I didn't think they were a bad team," he said,

"It probably flattered us a little bit when we last played because we scored every chance we created.

"It's a tough place to go because we've had some poor results there in the last few seasons.

"We'll go there with the same attitude as we would if we were playing against the side top of the league.

"We were pleased with the result and the performance on Tuesday night so now it's about getting consistency because we don't want to be up there one week and very poor the next."
