'Phenomenal' demand for latest Workington Town merchandise

Workington Town enter a new season with great optimism following a surge in demand for their new merchandising range.
Sales on replica shirts, both home and away, have comfortably exceeded expectations, with levels higher than for a number of years.
Commercial manager Barry Scholey said: “The demand for the whole merchandising range has been phenomenal, with particular interest in the replica shirts.
“Sales have gone so well that we have had to place additional orders for home and away shirts.
“We have sold more home shirts already this season than we had sold up until the end of March last year and 50 per cent more away shirts than the whole of last year.
“We had to put an extra order in with our suppliers O’Neils to get shirts here for Christmas and we have already had to place a second order before the first order of away shirts has arrived because we have already sold out of the first order before the shirts have arrived.”
The club are hoping the demand for shirt sales is reflected in the attendances for this season as they step up to the Championship, playing a standard of rugby not seen at Derwent Park for a number of years.
Club merchandise can be purchased on line at www.townrlfc.com, from the offices at Derwent Park, from Sportszone in Maryport, Brush and Comb and Mad for Rugby in Workington.
