Oliver Turvey says he can’t wait for Formula E’s season-finale in Canada.

Turvey, originally from Langwathby, near Penrith, will conclude his 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship with the double-header event in Montreal.

Cumbrian Turvey and NextEV NIO Formula-e team-mate Nelson Piquet Jr will be in action as they tackle a 35-lap race on Saturday around the Downtown Montreal streets and a 37-lap race on Sunday.

“I’m really looking forward to going to Montreal. I have always wanted to visit Canada and Montreal in particular,” Turvey said.

“It is a fantastic place to host the finale of Season 4. The track layout looks interesting, a lot of longer straights and challenging corners, and a more flowing track than NYC [New York].”

Turvey’s team-mate Piquet Jr said: “Canada is a country that embraces motorsport and I was honoured to visit Montreal last year to help unveil the track layout.

“I have visited Montreal several times and it is a fantastic city. It is going to be a lot of fun racing around the Downtown streets next weekend.

“It is a fantastic venue for our season finale and I am hopeful that we are able to end the season with a positive result.”

Gérry Hughes, NextEV NIO Team Principal, added: “We now approach the final two races of season three; a double-header in Montreal.

“It has been a mixed season for the NextEV NIO team to date, with highs including securing seven super poles in a row, as well as some challenging races in the second half of the season.

“Montreal is another new track for all the teams and both drivers have completed sessions in the DIL simulator as part of our pre-event preparation.

“We are all working very hard to try and end the season with a strong result for the team.”

Penrith-born driver Turvey finished sixth and 14th place in two races in the FIA Formula E Championship’s first-ever ePrix in New York earlier this month.
