Whitehaven's Woods: Salary cap is pretty well done now
Published at 11:14, Saturday, 08 December 2012
Dave Woods is in no hurry to add to his Whitehaven squad after securing the signature of top amateur Matty Palmer last week.
The Haven boss, pictured left, is happy with how his squad is taking shape, though in time he hopes to add a couple of extra faces to the line-up, in addition to the two Papua New Guinea forwards expected at the Recre in January, if both meet visa requirements.
“The salary cap is pretty well done now,” Wood said. “We are not actively looking, but we’ll keep our eyes open, and if anyone becomes available, we’ll see what we can do.
“We probably need another two players, though at this stage I’m happy with what we’ve got and what they are doing.
“They have really been positive.
“With a new coach coming in, they’ve had to adapt to the way I work, but I’m happy they’ve picked things up really well.”
A date has still not been agreed for the Ike Southward Memorial clash against Workington Town.
The match, usually pencilled in for Christmas week, will miss its traditional slot as Town have a string of injuries.
Haven are due to travel to their other county rivals Barrow Raiders on January 20.
