Whitehaven coach Don Gailer parts company with club

Don Gailer was last night relieved of his coaching duties at Whitehaven with immediate effect while on a short family break in Paris.

Have your say

if its player power that is ruining the club then get a coach(s) in who know the lads and know how they work.....

rob purdham has been ther and got the t-shirt, so too has ewan dowes, both cumbria lads, who wear the heart on the sleeve, not some aussie coming over for a pay day...

bit to run on this but hope they get it sorted

What a surprise, and you thought prima-donnas were confined to the ugly game? Obviously the board has no backbone.
And there was going to be a stadium purpose built for this load of amateurs?

Can all the BOD all stand and take a bow. Thanks we are once again the laughing stock of rugby league!!!!!!!!!

having watched the game on fri it was quite plain that they were not intrested in the massive support that had travelled and paid good money and not on freebie.. player power should not be allowed and th board should have sorted it out. as for locals being better than most of travellers dont know were they are.as for seeds and broadbent no.no.no we need a name like a mcormack or a cullen .rooney is a start but we need at least another5--6 quality players to have any chance next season just to finish on are the board going to let the hundreds who went on fri in free on sun think thats the least they could do.

i think the way this has been done is disgraceful and shows what a shambles our once proud has become.
to bring a coach halfway across the world and then ask him to MANAGE a team with 1 hand tied beind his back is ludicrous.
i hope the bod ask all the payers who THEY want as thier new coach, otherwise we will be in the same prediciment this time next year.(and also in the same league)
that is if we don't go bust again

Oh Don, you should have been the players best "drinking buddy" and just told them what they want to hear. Sounds to me that the Directors need to grow a pair each and instill some proper discipline into the club. You can't alway be the "bessy Mate" Ralph !!

Player power what does that say about the directors ?

Seems like Haven have opted for mediocrity and oblivion. You cant let the players rule the roost. Big fish in small pond syndrome I suspect. Sounds like Don took them further than they were willing to go. Good luck mate.

DON GAILER NEVER CAME TO TERMS WITH THE PLAYERS, RESULTS OVER THE SEASON PROVE THAT.
THE DIRECTORS HAVE MADE THE RIGHT DECISION.
BUT MAYBE SHOULD LOOK AT THE TRAVELLING CONTINGENT BEFORE NEXT SEASON.
