Matches on Sunday fared a little better, albeit three Senior League Cup games were cancelled, leaving just two games to report on from the weekend.
Threlkeld hosted Caldbeck and were asked to bat first. A somewhat below par score of 137/8 with skipper Richard Bannister (42), Gary Stewardson (36) and Stu Davenport (24) the main contributors; Phil Richardson (3/23), Callum Donald (2/35) and Kevin Patterson (2/21) took the bulk of the wickets.
In reply, openers Steven Blake (58) and Rob Benn (45) took Caldbeck (142/3) to the brink of victory and the visitors reached their target with four overs to spare; dropped catches by Threlkeld proving crucial in this encounter.
In the only other game played, the young Carlisle 4ths (69/10) were routed by Nunwick 2nds; Mark James with figures of 7.3–2-14–7 doing the damage.
Nunwick (70/6), too, did not find batting easy at Edenside against skipper Anthony Wilson 8-0-32-6, who did his very best to get Carlisle a result.
As we enter the latter part of the season, let us hope for some decent weather.
The Premiership, First and Second Divisions are really tight with only Kirkby Stephen 2nds in Division Three looking outright favourites for promotion.
