Glorious, hot, sunny weather - the complete opposite of last week ensured a full programme took place.

Braithwaite missed the chance to stay top of the Premier Division when they lost at Stainton. Put in to bat and 74/2 at 20 overs, they lost their momentum and closed at 137.

Stainton seemed out of it after a slow start and needing plenty at half way. A patient knock from Jon Ridley (59 not out) and some lusty hits from Martin Ruddick (23) took them to victory with a ball to spare.

A low scoring game at Caldbeck (105/10), with a Scott Allinson hat-trick the highlight, never really troubled Kirkby; Ross Davies (36 not out).

Temple Sowerby came to grief at Scotby who earned their first victory of the season, chasing down Sowerby’s (156/9). Dan Swann (51 not out) in addition to his 3 wickets starring leading them to victory.

A spate of dropped catches allowed Threlkeld (198/8) to post a score way beyond Appleby. Sam Sharp (84 not out) the main beneficiary.

Appleby subsided as they lost their last six wickets for 19 runs.

Appleby 2nds and Nunwick fought out a thrilling game at Culgaith. Appleby (188/6), with some solid batting throughout, highlighted by Adam Knowles (68 not out). Nunwick (174/8) responded with good knocks from Robbie White (50) and James Tweedie (41) but Appleby, with James Hullock (4/44) held out for the winning draw.

Elsewhere, Staffield (194/3) chased an imposing Langholm (191/10) total. Duncan Elliot (60). Staffield’s powerful batting line-up again made it comfortably; Tony Threlkeld (62) top scoring.

Lanercost (214/10) were too strong for lowly Wigton 2nds (106/10). Ross Wilson (52) and Matthew Brown (64) setting them up with a century opening partnership. Wigton never threatened and were thankful Matthew Percival (58) made the score respectable.

Wetheral (210/8) returned to form with the Oliver brothers both scoring half centuries. A young Carlisle 3rds finished well short with Marco Oliver completing a fine match with 4/15.

In the Second Division, Wigton 3rds posted a massive 347/3 with Callum Dodd (154). Penrith 4ths were dismissed for 91.

Wins for Caldbeck 2nds at Lanercost, with Phil Richardson (63) and 5/52 outstanding, and Stainton 2nds winning a low scoring affair at Penrith 3rds.

Division Three featured three low scoring games with wins for Keswick 3rds, Patterdale and Irthing Vale who defeated leaders Kirkby Stephen 2nds by 66 runs; Duncan Miller (69 not out).
