Workington Comets must overcome a daunting 14-point deficit as they aim to turn the tables on in-form Somerset tomorrow night.

It’s hoped home advantage (7pm start) will count for something as Comets aim to progress in the Knock Out Cup.

The visitors have won their last five meetings and are the cup’s current holders, having won the competition last year with Comets rider Rasmus Jensen in their side.

Morgan will take heart from her side’s performance last weekend, when they matched Somerset for the first half of the meeting until the track changed.

She said: “I wasn’t there but Tony Jackson did report that Somerset had done their old trick and graded the track to make it completely different.

“It’s left us with a real fighting chance and I’m really looking forward to it because I do think we’re capable.

“It’s going to be tough to get the points that we need but if we don’t qualify it’ll be a disappointment.

“I would love to knock Somerset out of the cup because they’ve won the league a few times and they always beat us down there.”

And Morgan is confident her side have the ability to produce the same kind of mastery on their own track.

“We’re very strong at home,” she said. “I’ve every confidence that Ricky Wells will get the better of Josh Grajczonek.

“It’ll be a very exciting meeting because Somerset don’t mess about, they will come to win.”

Morgan also addressed the inconsistent form of Adam Roynon, who has struggled with bike problems and is keen to find more sponsors.

She added: “We will give Adam a fair chance because we believe in him.”

Meanwhile, Comets’ outstanding League Cup fixture at Redcar has been rearranged for next Thursday.
