TOWN assistant coach Jonty Gorley says his depleted side need at least four points from their remaining matches to stand a chance of avoiding relegation heartbreak.

Town remain rooted to the bottom of the league and drew 10-10 with Swinton at home despite leading at one stage.

On Sunday they travel to Featherstone Rovers who are challenging for a top four place which would see them make The Qualifiers.

Phil Veivers' side have not beaten Featherstone for more than two years and were battered 52-6 at Derwent Park in April's reverse fixture.

Town have also got a growing injury list with up to nine players sidelined including Jack Murphy, Sam Forrester, Brett Carter and Chris Murphy.

Gorley said: "The Swinton game was a point dropped in my eyes, but a point is better than nothing.

"We had a lot of possession. We didn't get the tries and points that we needed to win, but we defended well which is a positive to take into this week.

"Phil Veivers said he wanted 30 in the squad and people say that we only have one team, but people pick up injuries and we need more players.

"We're confident we can get something out of every game and we proved that when we played Bradford and Halifax.

"Lapses in concentration did it for us against Bradford when we were winning with six minutes to go, but switched off."

"We've got to pick up points when we can and there's nothing to say that we can't pick up points."

Phil Veivers has announced his squad for the game with John Patrick, who answered a recent SOS, the most notable absentee from the Swinton game.

Town have to play Dewsbury, Whitehaven and Oldham in their remaining league fixtures.

Gorley added: "If we don't get anything out of our game on Sunday, we'll have to pick up points against teams that we're not expected to pick up points against.

"It's mightily difficult when they have to pick themselves up week after week.

"There's still a chance yet. We've got a set of lads who can do it."

Kick off at The Big Fellas Stadium is at 3pm on Sunday.
