Rudd guided the reserves to the runners-up berth in the Lancashire League last season. And they held an unbeaten home record including the 8-1 demolition of eventual champions, Colne.
Highly-rated Rudd is returning to former club, Gretna 2008, in a coaching capacity after spending 18 months at Borough Park.
Reds reserves were the division’s top scorers in 2015/16 but finished five points behind the winners.
Even so, it represented a dramatic turn round in fortunes as Reds were rock bottom of the league when Rudd took over.
Instrumental in bringing some talented youngsters to the club, Rudd guided several of those towards the first team squad whom he worked with in training and on match days. The club also made a successful return to the FA Youth Cup last term after a six year absence.
In his first spell with the club, Rudd was a member of the Reserves’ Lancashire League title winning squad at the end of the 2007-08 campaign.
- Reds have announced a provisional schedule of pre-season friendlies, including clashes with Carlisle United and Gretna.
