Whitehaven will change their mindset for the visit of Championship leaders Leigh Centurions tomorrow night (6.30pm).

The Recreation Ground side go into the game on the back of a 28-24 win over the bottom side Workington Town – and that’s the difference.

Coach James Coyle said: “The result at Blackpool was the most important thing from our point of view. It was a must-win game and I was really pleased with how it worked out.

“But not many people will expect us to beat Leigh, who have lost only once all season, and this time it will be about our performance. We have to stay focused and ignore the scoreboard.

“In fact, although we have two successive home games coming up they are both tough ones. After Leigh we have Halifax at the Recreation Ground and they showed how strong they are by nilling Featherstone at Blackpool and scoring 37 points themselves.”

Whitehaven will be without centre pair Jessie Joe Parker, who is nursing an ankle injury, and Chris Taylor, who has been struggling with a hamstring problem. Coyle expects Parker to be back to face Halifax, but Taylor might take a bit longer.

Jordan Burns, who has had a bout of concussion following his injury at London two weeks ago, returns to the squad along with Widnes dual-registration back Ed Chamberlain who suffered a hip injury in the same game.

Leigh have signed Warrington’s Wales international Ben Evans on a month’s loan to cover a pair of suspensions.

The 23-year-old prop has yet to feature for the Wolves this season after rupturing a hamstring last year and has been playing on a dual-registration for League One club Rochdale.

Evans, whose twin brother Rhys made eight appearances for the Centurions on dual-registration in 2011, could make his debut at Whitehaven in the absence of suspended duo Gareth Hock and Jamie Acton.
