Workington Comets manager Tony Jackson expects this weekend's back-to-back Premier League meetings against Plymouth and Sheffield to be among the toughest of the season.

Comets are back in Premier League action for the first time since May 2 tonight (7.30pm start) at Plymouth's St Boniface Arena.

They then welcome the Tigers tomorrow night (7pm start) who bring three ex-Comets in Simon Stead, Kyle Howarth and Nathan Greaves.

The Devils have signed Brady Kurtz to replace Charlie Gjedde at No1 and the Australian champion is due to make his debut tonight.

Comets manager Tony Jackson, who will be absent tonight with co-promoter Steve Whitehead standing in, said his side would have to be on top form to fend off both teams.

"They're two tough fixtures," he said.

"Plymouth typically have just strengthened this week but I'm hoping Kurtz is not fully dialled into their track yet as he's an accomplished racer.

"It's a tight track, totally different to ours because it's the smallest in the league whereas ours is one of the biggest."

Comets trio Ricky Wells, Adam Roynon and Rasmus Jensen have all had spells with the south coast club and Jackson hopes their knowledge can help.

Workington lie eighth in the Premier League table, one place and two points behind Plymouth with a fixture in hand.

Meanwhile, Sheffield are second in the league and have won their last two away league fixtures.

Jackson added: "Josh Bates is in the form of his life having recently won the under-21 title for the second time.

"They are a very solid team and all of them ride big tracks well so it could be one of the toughest matches of the season.

"It promises to be a great meeting for the fans with two very competitive teams and we're under no illusions that it will be hard."
