Bluebell are through to the semi-final of the Sunday County Cup after a high-scoring win over Carlisle opposition FC Reiver.

They were 8-3 winners at Lillyhall, dominating the game throughout, apart from the final 15 minutes of the first half.

Greg Quayle led the way by grabbing four of the goals himself and was joined on the scoresheet by Garry Connelly, Ryan Edmondson, Will Bowe and David Gaunt.

Northside, the Workington Sunday League champions, weren’t able to join them as they lost 5-4 at home to Mirehouse from the Egremont Sunday League.

Mike Kilgour, Kyle Galea, Liam McCullough and John Price netted for Northside, who are in a head-to-head with Bluebell for the Premier Division title in the Workington League.

A third Workington Sunday League side, Senhouse Street Club, still standing in the Sunday County Cup, will try again this weekend after the game at Arroyo Arms was called off.

Salutation, the reigning county champions, moved into the semi-final with a 3-1 win over fellow Carlisle League side Royal Scot.

In the Workington Sunday League, First Division Sun Inn Athletic won 3-2 at Thomas Henry.

Shaun Wilson (2) and Karl Johnston scored for Athletic with Joshua Wilson and Wayne Graham replying for the hosts.

Meanwhile, the Workington Sunday League has fixed the dates of its three major finals – April 23 and April 30, both at Borough Park, and May 7 at Grasslot.

The final Sunday for fixtures this season will be May 28 and the league’s AGM will be held the first week in July.
