There are mixed fortunes for a pair of ex-Carlisle United players at National League club Wealdstone.

The fifth-tier outfit have confirmed their retained and released list following the 2023/24 campaign.

The London club have taken up an option to extend the deal of Micah Obiero.

But his fellow former Carlisle loanee Marcus Dewhurst has left Grosvenor Vale.

It follows Wealdstone's 16th-placed finish in non-league's top tier.

Dewhurst has departed at the end of his contract. Wealdstone say he and four others have left the club after either a failure to agree new terms or a decision to release them.

The goalkeeper had two loan spells at Brunton Park which were mostly spent as an understudy.

He joined from Sheffield United in the second half of the 2019/20 campaign then returned in 2020/21 under Chris Beech.

The 23-year-old was limited to two cup appearances in his time at Brunton Park - the latter coming in the FA Cup when Dewhurst's penalty saves helped United edge past Hayes & Yeading following a shoot-out.

He made 27 appearances for Wealdstone last season, having joined them permanently in November following loan spells with Solihull Moors, Boston United and Scunthorpe United.

Forward Obiero, 23, was also on loan at United in 2020/21, from Huddersfield Town.

Six appearances yielded one goal - against Aston Villa Under-21s in the EFL Trophy - in a two-month stint.

He has snice played for FC Halifax Town and Boston United, joining Wealdstone last year. He scored two goals in 35 appearances in 2023/24.
