Three of Carlisle United’s best performing players in League One last season – according to stats experts – are no longer at the club.

The Blues’ 2023/24 campaign resulted in relegation back to the fourth tier.

And while the season may not have been full of consistent top performers, data website WhoScored.com have ranked Carlisle’s players for their efforts during the full term.

The top average rating went to midfielder Owen Moxon, who left the Blues for Portsmouth in January after featuring 26 times for Paul Simpson’s side.

Next best, according to the analysis, was Luke Armstrong, the record striker signing who joined from Harrogate Town in January.

Third, based on performances during the campaign, was the experienced captain Paul Huntington, who has just been released.
