JESSICA Edgar, has returned for a second F1 Academy campaign, with the British driver racing with Rodin Motorsport.
Jessica is part of the fourth generation of Edgars to practise motor racing going back to 1960 when her great-grandfather Iredale Edgar bought his first kart. Her father Jason, who owns and manages the J Edgar Nissan dealership in Frizington, has also won several British Karting Championships.
F1 Academy is a female-only single-seater racing championship founded by Formula One. Nineteen-year-old Jessica will be looking to build upon her promising rookie campaign, which saw her open her account with a podium in Spielberg Race 1.
Further third-place finishes followed in Monza and in Austin , Jessica ended the season in triumph with her maiden victory and grand-slam result, helping her to secure eighth in the Drivers’ Standings.
Speaking about her return, Edgar said: “I am really excited to be working with Rodin Motorsport once again this year. We had a good 2023, constantly improving each time we went out in the car, and I hope we can do the same again.’’
Some of today’s most successful drivers have passed through the doors of the team, including racers in F1, IndyCar, WTCC and DTM. Current F1 drivers such as Lando Norris, George Russell and Kevin Magnussen among others, add up to almost half of the current F1 field who are alumni.
Jessica opened the season in Jeddah taking home 12 points after securing fourth place in Race 2, she will be back racing in Miami on May 3 - 5.
