Carlisle United are set to be backed by a near 2,000 travelling support at their League One swansong against Derby County.

Despite the Cumbrians having long since been relegated, the Blue Army are backing Paul Simpson's team to the very last.

And the final game of the campaign has seen United fans already snap up enough tickets for the Blues to request more from the Rams.

Carlisle announced on Tuesday that they had sold 1,137 tickets for the game at Pride Park.

A further 800 are now expected to go on sale in the coming days.

It is the latest impressive show of support for United in spite of their struggles at the foot of the the third tier.

The game against Paul Warne's promotion-chasing Derby is on Saturday, April 27 with a kick-off time of 12.30pm.

It will be Carlisle's first league trip to Pride Park in their final game of the 2023/24 campaign before the relegated Blues return to League Two.

United have played at Derby's current ground once before, early in the 2016/17 campaign in the League Cup when a 1-1 draw was followed by a marathon 14-13 penalty shoot-out defeat.

Their last league trip to take on Derby came as far back as October 1983, when Carlisle won 4-1 at the Rams' former home of the Baseball Ground, Malcolm Poskett hitting all four goals in a Division Two encounter.

Derby will be hoping the game is part of a promotion party with Warne's high-flying side hoping to seal a return to the Championship.
