Cumbrian goalkeeper Dean Henderson played a starring role in Crystal Palace's victory over Liverpool which dented the Anfield club's title challenge.

Henderson helped the Eagles to a clean sheet as their 1-0 win stunned Jurgen Klopp's side at Anfield.

The Whitehaven star produced an impressive save to deny Luis Diaz while he and his team-mates produced a defiant display throughout on Merseyside.

The result handed the Premier League title initiative to Manchester City on a day Arsenal were also beaten at home - 2-0 by Aston Villa.

Henderson, 27, later spoke of his delight at Palace's win at Anfield.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: "Coming to places like this, you know you're going to be busy. I'm delighted to be back this time around, it's a team effort, I'm delighted.

"The amount of blocks, passes across, blocks...they made save after save for me, I had to make saves as well.

"I felt like I was out there for about a year. We rode our luck at times but I'm delighted.

"I think the lads believed we could do something today on the coach today, the pressure was on them. If we play our stuff and once bodies come back, with what the manager has got us doing, we will be playing good stuff.

"I feel good this time around, I feel fit and I've got a smile on my face." Eberechi Eze hit the only goal in the 14th minute.

Former Carlisle United academy keeper Henderson recently got back in the Palace side after an injury to Sam Johnstone.

His outing at Anfield was his 11th league appearance for the Eagles following his move from Manchester United last summer, and his first clean sheet in the top flight for the south London club.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are now two points adrift of leaders City with six games to go.
