Originating from Brazil, BJJ emphasizes leverage and technique, allowing smaller individuals to defend themselves against larger opponents through the use of joint locks, chokes, and positional control.

Jiu Jitsu has risen in popularity over the past decade due to an increase in the level of interest in mixed martial arts (MMA) fights which incorporate a lot of Jiu Jitsu into its bouts.
