Promotion-chasing Bolton Wanderers will be backed by nearly 3,000 travelling fans at Carlisle United next weekend.

The Blues' return to action, after this weekend's visit to Cheltenham was postponed, will come at Brunton Park against Ian Evatt's high-fliers.

And Bolton have announced that they've sold all their full 2,986 ticket allocation for the game at Carlisle's ground.

That includes 1,500 terracing tickets, with United giving the visiting supporters use of the Waterworks End for the game.

The January 27 clash should see a bumper attendance at Brunton Park as 23rd-placed Carlisle take on a Trotters side who currently sit fourth in League One.

It promises to be a contest with plenty riding on it for both sides, with the Blues desperate for points to revive their survival hopes and Bolton aiming to maintain their promotion challenge.

Both this and last season United have opened the Waterworks End on occasion for home fans when a big attendance has been in store.

This time the game will see Bolton fans behind the goal, with supporters once more on all four sides of Brunton Park.

The game will see former United players Kyle Dempsey and Jack Iredale return to Brunton Park with Bolton, who were beaten 3-1 by a Jordan Gibson-inspired Blues in the reverse fixture in October at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

While Carlisle's game at Cheltenham has fallen victim to the freezing conditions this weekend, Bolton's trip to Leyton Orient has been given the provisional go-ahead.

The pitch was deemed playable at the time of an inspection on Friday afternoon, with temperatures expected to rise in the build-up to the game.

Another League One game has fallen to the weather, though, with a frozen pitch putting paid to Port Vale's home game against Wycombe Wanderers.

Others are in some doubt, with an 11am inspection ahead of Stevenage's home clash with Barnsley, and Exeter City set for a further inspection on Saturday lunchtime in the hope their game against Cambridge United can survive.

Oxford United will also hold a 10am inspection ahead of their meeting with Northampton Town.

Burton Albion, meanwhile, expect their game against Charlton Athletic to go ahead after their received help from Leicester City.

With Leicester's women's team set to face Aston Villa on Friday night in the Women's Super League, a heated cover system was installed at the Pirelli Stadium.

Lincoln City are also "confident" their game against Derby County will be on.
