An amateur boxing club completed a near-600 mile round trip to take part in a Scottish event.

Four boxers from Workington Amateur Boxing helped the club 'break new ground' as they traveled 568 miles from West Cumbria to Inverness for some England v Scotland bouts on Saturday, January 13.

Although these bouts were threatened by some lat-minute pullouts, Lewis, Elliot, Alfie, and Leon were all able to perform 'brilliantly' in their respective contests and put on a show for the paying Scottish audience.

Workington Amateur Boxing Club coach Alan Murray was keen to put on record a special thanks to the Scottish club for inviting the local fighters to compete.

He said: "Thanks to Inverness Boxing club for letting us be part of the show and a special mention to Alex and Coach Ross from Inverurie who traveled up last minute to ensure one of the contests could go ahead.

"And as ever Cheers to Alan, Chris, and Joe for the transport, feeding, and coaching of the boxers and Lewis's parents who made the long trip up also to support."
