Former Carlisle United striker Joshua Kayode has made a League One loan move.

The 22-year-old frontman will spend the season with MK Dons on loan from Rotherham United.

Kayode will aim to get first-team football at Stadium MK.

It is the latest loan move in his career after two spells at Carlisle in 2020-21 and previous stints with Gateshead and Chesterfield.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international said he was delighted to join Liam Manning's Dons.

"As soon as I spoke to the gaffer, it was a no brainer for me that this was the right place for me to develop as a player and a person," he told MK Dons' website.

“The style of play is great and it’s something I can see myself fitting into. I’m a hard-worker who likes to get in behind and run at players, and I’m good in the air too - hopefully I can bring all of that in to help the team."

Kayode scored 11 goals in 41 appearances for the Cumbrians under former boss Chris Beech.

That included a spell at the club in the second half of the 2019/20 season, and then the full 2020/21 campaign.

He has made 33 outings for his Championship parent club, scoring twice, but will now hope to make his mark in League One.

“Where we want to go to as a club aligns well with Josh's ambitions and I look forward to working with him for this season," added Dons sporting director Liam Sweeting

Head coach Liam Manning added: "Josh is an exciting addition and his qualities, both physically and technically, will certainly add to the group."
