Carlisle United have confirmed more than £4,000 has been raised for their “Make A Dream Come True” appeal.

The appeal, in conjunction with Jigsaw Children’s Hospice, has been running for just more than a month as the Blues plan to raise £9,000 to send a sick child and their family to Lapland this winter.

“To take over £4,000 in pledges and donations over the course of the last month has been absolutely fantastic,” said director of football David Holdsworth.

Meanwhile, a 2019 Stan Bowles calendar, produced by London Calling Calendars Ltd, is on sale for £10 at United’s Blues Store. The 69-year-old ex-Carlisle player has Alzheimer’s disease with proceeds going towards fighting the disease.

Fans' group The Maverick Team and The Plan for Stan, as well as several fan groups representing Bowles' former teams, were behind the initiative.

Don Shanks will also be running the New York Marathon to raise funds in November.
