We shared a picture of the Sir Nigel Gresley train passing through Brampton on its way to Newcastle.

The train was named after Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley CBE, who was a British railway engineer. He was one of Britain's most famous steam locomotive engineers.

Our readers reacted to the image, which was taken by Paul Crabtree.

John Edward Carrigan said: "Unfortunately missed it yesterday going through Wetheral, just heard it, then saw the smoke going past at the bottom of the garden. Too late! Happy days cleaning it with the 'lads' at the BR Canal 1957/ 58. That’s a great picture."

Agnes Herbert said: "Lovely picture. Nine-year-old mini-spotter grandson was gutted Sir Nige passed so close to Carlisle and he missed it. Hoping for better luck in May when he/she visits Carlisle station. Thank you for sharing Paul Crabtree."

Sam Cunliffe said: "Nice to see it on the railway. It was in the works at the National Railway Museum when we were in York."

Jonathan Hogg said the train "looks like a miniature replica", while Adrian Leadbitter shared a photo of the train, as it passed Warden crossing near Fourstones, Hexham.
