WE shared the news that DJ Steve Wright, who was mostly known for presenting programmes for BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 for more than 40 years died at the age of 69.

His family confirmed on February 13 the presenter had died.

David Eyley said: "Used to DJ in the midlands at a nightclub, and he brought his breakfast crew in the early 90’s. Met him before we went in, did the show, which was chaotic and brilliant, then after we’d finished, we all sat down and talked for an hour. Lovely man, fabulous DJ and showman. Will be sadly missed, and feel so lucky to have met him."

Lewis Spedding added: "Really sad always enjoyed his sense of humour and fun along with fascinating insights on songs." 

Collette Dandy said: "I have been listening to Steve Wright since in my earlier teens, how very sad for his family and all listeners, Sunday love songs won't be the same."

Caroline Kelly commented: "My favourite DJ, just loved listening to his afternoon and Sunday show, will be sadly missed."
