Woman taken to hospital after dog attack

A woman was taken to hospital after being attacked by a dog.

Police are investigating after the pitbull-type animal bit the woman as she walked on a path at Ladies’ Walk in Workington.

Police said a man and woman, both aged about 18, had passed her with two dogs.

The man was walking the pitbull-type dog which attacked the woman who was injured. The other dog was described as a sandy terrier-type pet.

Both the people with dogs fled towards the town centre after the attack.

The woman was given first aid by a member of the public before being taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven by ambulance. It happened at about 1.30pm on Monday.

Police are appealing for information on 101.
