Woman hurt in two-vehicle crash on Cumbrian road

A 45-year-old woman has been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle head-on crash.

Emergency services were called to the incident at North Mosses, Asby, just before 7am today.

The collision involved a Renault Megane car and a VW van carrying six people.

Fire crews from Whitehaven and Frizington used cutting equipment to free the car's female driver.

She sustained abdominal injuries and was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven, by ambulance.

The occupants of the van were unhurt.
