A 65-year-old woman fell walker was attacked by a stranger as she walked in a remote area of the Lake District over the weekend.
Cumbria police have now issued an appeal for information after the attack, which happened on Wansfell Pike at around 4pm yesterday.
A force spokesman said that the man involved attempted to grab the woman but she used her walking poles to fight him off, cutting his right eyebrow as she did so.
“The offender made off on foot towards the Ambleside area,” added the spokesman, adding that anybody with information about the man should get in touch.
