Where to park for Rugby League World Cup games in Workington

Council chiefs have issued parking and transport advice ahead of the staging of the Rugby League World Cup matches in Workington.

Allerdale officers say that on the days of both games there will be parking on both Central Square car park and the town’s Park Safe multi-storey car park, with overflow parking also in place.

An authority spokesman said: “It is advised that people arrive early to make sure they get a parking space.

“Coach parking is in the layby next to Tesco and marshals will be in place for anyone needing directions or advice. Anyone with a disability or blue badge holders should get in touch with Rugby League World Cup directly on 0844 8472013 to book a parking permit on the grounds. Spaces are limited.”

Stagecoach buses will be running as normal. Trains have been replaced by a bus service on Sunday, November 3.

The spokesman added: “There are a number of different things going on around the town and special offers for food for those who arrive early.”

Workington’s Derwent Park hosts the match between Scotland and Tonga at 8pm on Tuesday, October 29 and the fixture between Scotland and Italy at 4pm on Sunday, November 3.
